JEAA Breakfast Meeting

On Wednesday 16 June the Association was delighted to hold its first face to face breakfast meeting of2021 at the Kingsman Suites, St Helier, attended by 23 member agents and 3 speakers.

 

Nick Dodsley as newly appointed president thanked members for attending and introduced the first speaker, being Paul Byrne, Managing Director of PropelFwd.

 

Paul highlighted the importance of keeping abreast of the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018 with regards to Privacy Notices, Cookie Banners, Cookie Notices and Data Subject Access Rights. The theme throughout being the protection of personal data and how to avoid data breaches and what to do in the event of same.

 

A short break with coffee and pastries followed.

 

Alex Blackwell, Director of Redcoin, IT Security Distribution and Jamie McDonald, Director of System Labs gave a joint presentation on Cyber Security and explained the importance of having measures in place to prevent malicious or unintentional data loss through cybercrime. An example mentioned was Ransomware and how to mitigate such crime.

 

Questions, coffee and networking closed the meeting and Nick thanked the speakers for their interesting and insightful presentations.

 

The Association holds quarterly breakfast meetings for member firms to attend which demonstrates their professionalism and commitment to the industry by keeping up to date with the latest legislation.
