The JEAA breakfast meeting was held at Le HocqSuite, Radisson Blu Hotel on Wednesday 22June 2022.
JEAA President, Nick Dodsley thanked members for attending and introduced the first speaker - Florin Zarcu, Supervisor – Jersey Financial Services Commission. Florin provided updates on Civil Financial Penalties, discussed fit and proper test for schedule 2 businesses, the consolidated AML/CFT Handbook, the outsourcing policy and gave the feedback from recent examinations.
The next speaker was Gill McMahon, Regulation Standards Senior Officer - Trading Standards, who provided us a refresher regarding the Consumer Protection (Unfair Practices) (Jersey) Law 2018. Her talk included information about material information, misleading acts, misleading omissions, aggressive practices, professional diligence and she provided examples of banned practices.
The Association holds quarterly breakfast meetings open to all members to attend, demonstrating their professionalism and commitment to the industry in keeping current with all the latest legislation.
JEAA membership incorporates membership of the NAEA Propertymark and the Property Ombudsman scheme and encourages members to undertake industry recognised professional exams for NAEA Propertymark (Sales) and ARLA Propertymark (Lettings).
We would encourage vendors and buyers to choose a JEAA member firm to ensure best practice.
